- first smthing that i want to gloat about...
I got more than 40 comments fr the first time ever for my last post.....
i kno i kno its not such a big deal.. but yeay! i am happy..
now i am not a great blogger chick who gets like gazillions of comments so this lil thing makes me happy :D
*sighs at how really minuscule things make her happy* - i am currently listening to songs from KANK(Kabhi alvida na kehna for the uninitiated) ..
now i dnt do formal formal reviews like Raj but lemme giv u a sneak peek frm my point of view
1.Kabhi alvida na kehna(Title song): its ok! i mean u expect more frm the Johars title track atleast.. its nice but my expectations were more i guess
but mayb i'll like it more when i see shahrukh he he :)
2. mitwa: a nice pakistani folksy kind of song .. me likey
reminds me of junoon(the band not the sucky tiger movie)
3. Rock n roll soniye: nice upbeat song.. me likey this one also.. the only problem with it now is that it reminds of pretty woman ever since Raj said that :(
4. wheres the party tonight: again .. upbeat but u kno somehow again reminds me of its the time to disco ..
i mean thats the problem with all the songs of this movie .. they r nice but u kno not upto what i hav come to expect frm the johar movies :(
5. Tumhi dekho na: soft , melodious but doesnt grow on u again i say that i think i have to c the picturisations to really love these songs
Overall verdict: nice songs but below expectations for the Johar clan movies
so arnd 7/10 fr them
Pick of the lot : rock n roll soniye and mitwa - i have to fill up tons of forms and get gazillions of signatures testifyin that i am not takin even a lil piece of lint frm the firm that i am leaving
*hides the laptop that she was tryin to sneak out* - i bought a new pair of jeans that i am sure make me look fatter than i am :( even tho a friend denied it like a gazillion times... gosh guys r so sweet smtimes..
bought like 3-4 kurtas frm fabindia all in preparation fr college life :) - am still thinkin abt which laptop to buy so any suggestions in that regard would be duly appreciated .. only criteria fr them is that they should be less than 60 k
- i have to try and find time to say goodbye to all my friends properly before i leave .. gosh that is goin to hurt..
Reminder : Suggestions abt laptop .. all u nerdy guys ahem ..i mean sweetie pies.. i need ur help.. the lappy should be fast,light and cheap(less than 60 K)

i would suggest a laptop, but seeing as i have no idea about your requirements or how much you want to spend (in £GBP) i can't help
and listen here you lady, you got 40 comments on your last post because you took so long to update :P

KANK ... uuuggghhh .. thats not even C grade movie :p ... I juss hate that kinda movies and i m sure u'll cry a LOT when u'll watch that movie. Johar is another Ekta Kapoor, :p He makes his actors cry. This reminds me of something ki "Aadmi roo raha hai aur kutta pehra de raha hai" , hahaha ... guess where it was?
U'll look fatter in some pair of jeans.. huh ? how ?? tell me, even i'll try that kinda thing.
Well, buy some bracelets and kurtis frm janpath, i guess thats best place for kurti kinds stuff.
And for Laptop, 60k .. arre budget kyo set karti hai. DO 1 thing, pick up a GUN, go to some laptop shop aur jo sabse aacha aur mehnga ho wo le aa. Simple :p

Lenovo thinkpads, compaq notebooks are all within your range. Toshiba tablets wont be, but they are worth the money, 85k or so..

secondly, lenovo has a new range of laptops which would be within your range, but beware of inexpensive laptops, they generally exclude important software packages, which you'll land up spending double on. plus, im guessing you'll get a good deal since you probably wont require more than 60 gb. (i need 160)
look for Dell laptops too... esp 700m its ultimate machine in mobility .. do not know abt the price however u can configure the system on Dell site.
Not much into Hindi Film songs (except they are of Kishore Kumar).

Except for Mitwa and the title song, the rest are very average.
Getting signatures is the worst part, waiting for people while they talk on the phone n all that crap.

I have to buy a laptop in that range too but dont have much knowledge yet. I still have 1-2 months to make a decision.
But Lenovo and Acer are the brands I wud recommend.

About the laptop...dont u think 60k is a little bit too high considering your non gaming needs

Ummm... Sorry for the "high and mighty"-ness and the "bullheaded"-ness, but policy, they say, is policy. It's odd that you should "start thinking about commenting" just as I decide to "stop replying to comments".
The point being - if you like the blog, you'll keep reading it. And that's all that matters.
Also, this is the first time I realized that "KANK" [which I have seen repeatedly in the news] is NOT another movie titled "Kank" but instead the contraction of that other stupid film. Yes, I am one of those uninitiated.
40 comments...congrats! Laptops, recently I did a survey of laptops for a friend and can attest that there are plenty of laptops for within 60k. Heck, you can also get good ones for 35k itself. Brands...Lenovo seemed the best value for money and offered a lot for 45-50k. Compaq is a great looker and performer. HCL is pretty good too. By the way, my friend recently bought a Toshiba laptop for just over 40 k at a discount 'cuz his wife knew somebody there.
Final analysis...go for Lenovo. Their customer service is pretty good. Some tips:
a) You don't need to go for high end hard disks as you can add external or internal hard disks in the future if you require them. You might save some moolah there. I am sure that the laptop will come with a drive which will allow you to write CD's or DVD's, so you can always back up data you don't need.
b) Normally sales guys don't tell you that you can buy an additional 2 years warranty to the existing 1 year given with the machine at a cost which is very attractive compared to going for AMC's after the first year runs out.
c) If you are a non-gamer, then in my opinion, 40 GB Hard Disk is sufficient for a laptop, see if you can get 512 MB ram.

a compaq laptop would be your ideal choice. They pack in good hard disk capacity, more RAM than most manufacturers and a dedicated HP support throught the country and world. It comes with 1 year international travelling insurance as well. Make sure you pick the model which had WLAN and Bluetooth built it. Its a good bet.
I'm sorry to break news but there weren't 40 comments. Actually around 14 out of 51 comments were written by you. and there were around 17-18 different commentators...
I thought you are now going for an MBA in IB so testing assumptions will be first thing you have to check out. After all you will be studying Applied Marketing, Quantitative techniques in initial semesters and tough subjects later...
I'm just a fellow MBA passout, and I came to IMT for my interview but got another option. So I feel affinity for any takes of MBA.
I also love to give unsolicitated advice. Here I see there is discussion over laptops... I think...
'Acer' is cheap as low as 30K but low configuration yet ideal on pocket and good enough with service n office work.
'Compaq' are common but usually bulky/heavy, have touch pad which is not as comfortable as mouse. But they have various problems especially related to heat and peripherals like CD/DVD Drives etc.
Sony VAIO & Samsung are best but most expensive. Very slim, light weight, Sleek and great machines with least complaints.
Lenovo or previously IBM as your friends said are best bet now. Infact Toshiba is also doing good business... So your ideal choice will lie between Toshiba (cheap) and Lenovo (good service)
I think when I gave interview of IMT in 2004 they were making laptops necessary for all. So you will be buying machine for 2-4 years after that you have to upgrade. Actually think of buying laptops after 2.5 years, if your company doesn't provide you with one.
Must haves for Laptops
CD/DVD writer... This combination though is most common but is failure. try for CD reader/DVD writer and seperate CD writer.
USB port for 'PEN drives'... Believe me they'll be your life lines.
Personal small inkjet printer especially before summers to print out reports/CVs if printer facility in IMT is unreliable...
desktop speakers because after sometime your laptop speakers will become useless.
Small USB port Optical mouse for better working
and softwares which are going to make your life lot more easy... like Office 2003, XP pro (you'll get XP home with laptop), Antivirus/firewalls becasue your laptop is bound to get infected with LAN virus and then you'll loose all data while reformatting it...
And don't forget a laptop bag (Allen Solly) which lot of people forget.....
And study hard (especially statistics an finance), don't crib about schedule, love everyone including professors... with in 2 semesters you are going to make a reputation which is going to last for more than 2 years, and reputation will help you during group projects...
